Tiësto is a world-renowned music artist hailing from the Netherlands. Born on January 17, 1969, as Tijs Michiel Verwest, he began mixing records in his teenage years and quickly started composing original tracks. He chose the stage name "Tiësto", a variation of his first name. He was named "Best DJ of all time" by MixMag magazine in 2011, and won the Grammy Award for "Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical" in 2015. He has collaborated with many famous artists, including Diplo, Martin Garrix, and Oliver Heldens. His music spans a variety of genres, including trance, electro house, and future bass. Known for his energetic live performances, Tiësto has played at some of the world's biggest music festivals, including Ultra Music Festival in Miami and Tomorrowland in Belgium. He also launched his own clothing brand, CLVB LIFE, in 2011. Outside of music, Tiësto is actively involved in a number of charitable activities. He is a supporter and active donor to the organization "Dance4Life", which uses music and dance to raise awareness among young people about HIV and AIDS prevention.
