Everything But The Girl

BIOGRAPHY

Everything But The Girl is a British music group formed in Hull in 1982. The duo is made up of Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt. The name of the group comes from an advertisement for a furniture store in Hull which said: "For your home, we have everything but the girl." The group's first album, "Eden," was released in 1984 and quickly gained international success. The group's musical style is diverse and includes elements of pop, folk, jazz, and electronic music. They are probably best known for their song "Missing," which became a worldwide hit in 1995. Over the years, the group has released nine studio albums, several compilations, and over thirty singles. Despite some ups and downs throughout their career, including Watt's health issues, the group has managed to maintain a large fan base and significant respect in the music industry. In 2000, Thorn and Watt decided to put the group on hold to focus on their careers and family. However, they did not officially announce their separation and have released new music separately since then. In 2014, it was announced that the group was reuniting to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of their first album. Everything But The Girl remains an influential group that has left a lasting mark on the musical landscape of the 80s and 90s.
