Theo van de Voorde was born on July 9, 1974 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He began his career as a DJ in the city's clubs. In 1995, he released his first production, "The Raving World," under the name Mental Theo. He has since released several other singles and albums, including "This Is Mental" (1996), "Theo & The Mental Images" (1997) and "Theo & The Mental Images 2" (1998). In 2000, he founded his own music production company, Mental Theo Music. In 2003, Theo remixed the famous single "Wonderful Days" by Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo. The remix was a success in Europe, reaching number one on the charts in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. It was also included in the album "Wonderful Days 2003," which was certified gold in Germany. In 2006, Theo released his first solo album, "Theo & The Mental Images".
