Paul Young is a British singer born on January 17, 1956, in London. He achieved international success in the 1980s with singles such as "Love of the Common People," "Come Back and Stay," and "Everytime You Go Away." After leaving the group Q-Tips in 1983, Paul Young began his solo career with the album No Parlez. The album sold over two million copies and reached number one on the UK album chart. It was also certified platinum in the United States. Paul Young's second studio album, The Secret of Association (1985), was certified gold in the UK and reached number four on the album chart. His third studio album, Between Two Fires (1986), was certified platinum in the UK and reached number two on the album chart. It was also certified gold in the United States. In 1987, Paul Young contributed to the Buster movie soundtrack with the song "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face," which reached number one on the UK singles chart and was certified platinum. In 1989, he released his fourth studio album, Other Voices. The album sold over one million copies and reached number two on the UK album chart. It was also certified platinum in the United States. In 1991, Paul Young released his fifth studio album, From Time to Time - The Singles Collection. The album sold over two million copies and reached number one on the UK album chart. It was also certified platinum in the United States. In 1995, he released his sixth studio album, The Crossing. The album sold over one million copies and reached number four on the UK album chart. It was also certified gold in the United States. In 1999, Paul Young released his seventh studio album, The Elegant Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder. The album sold over one million copies and reached number seven on the UK album chart. In 2003, he released his eighth studio album, Rock Swings. The album sold over one million copies and reached number five on the UK album chart. In 2009, he released his ninth studio album, Good Times. The album sold over one million copies and reached number seven on the UK album chart. In 2020, Paul Young was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the New Year Honours for services to music.
