Phil Collins is a British singer, drummer, musician, and music producer born on January 30, 1951 in Chiswick, Middlesex. Collins began his musical career by playing drums in the progressive rock band Genesis in 1970. He took over as the lead singer of the band in 1975, leading Genesis to commercial success with albums such as Invisible Touch (1986) and We Can't Dance (1991). Collins left Genesis in 1996 to focus on his solo career, and released eight studio albums between 1981 and 2010. His 1981 album, Face Value, included the hit single "In the Air Tonight", which became one of his most famous songs. Collins also worked as a producer and musician for many artists, and contributed to the soundtrack of the Disney film Tarzan (1999). Collins has been honored with numerous awards throughout his career, including seven Grammy Awards, two Brit Awards, a Golden Globe Award, an Academy Award, and an Emmy Award. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010, and was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2015.
