BIOGRAPHY
Pale Waves is an independent English pop-rock band based in Manchester. Formed in 2014, the band consists of Heather Baron-Gracie (vocals, guitar), Ciara Doran (drums), Hugo Silvani (guitar), and Charlie Wood (bass). Their first single, "There's a Honey", was followed by "Television Romance". Both received positive reception and garnered considerable attention.
Their debut album "My Mind Makes Noises" in 2018 peaked in the top 10 of the UK charts and even received a nomination at the British Pop Music Awards. Pale Waves has also received numerous awards for their work. In 2018, they won the NME Under the Radar Award and were nominated in the BBC Sound of 2018 list.
They are known for their gothic aesthetic and melancholic pop sound, often compared to The Cure or The Cranberries. The band's second album, "Who Am I?", was released in 2021. With its release, the band further explored their sound, moving away from the gothic style of their first album towards a more pop-oriented approach inspired by the 90s and 2000s.
Based on their music and aesthetic, Pale Waves is often associated with the alt-pop and goth-pop scenes, however, they have made it clear that they do not limit themselves to a particular genre.
