Asha (born January 8, 1957) is a French-Canadian singer-songwriter and actress. Born in Montreal, Quebec, Asha began her career as a child actress, appearing in television advertisements and shows such as L'Orphelinat and La Petite Vie. She made her film debut in the 1988 film "J'ai tué ma mère," for which she won the award for Best Supporting Role at the Prix Génie. Asha's musical career began in the early 1990s with the release of her first album, "Asha," followed by the albums "La source" (1995), "Dans ma chair" (1997), and "Avant que tu ne t'en ailles" (2000). She also released the live albums "En concert" (2001) and "Asha en concert" (2004). Asha has been nominated for several Juno Awards and won the award for Francophone Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2006 for her album "Avant que tu ne t'en ailles."
