Debby

BIOGRAPHY

Debby Boone is an American singer born on September 22, 1956, in Hackensack, New Jersey. She is the daughter of Pat Boone, a 1950s and 1960s rock 'n' roll singer, and Shirley Foley Boone, a singer and pianist. Raised in a musical environment, Boone began her career singing with her father and family in churches. She made her professional debut in 1974, playing the role of Maria von Trapp in the musical The Sound of Music. She subsequently released several gospel albums before embarking on a pop and country solo career in 1977. Boone achieved commercial success with her first single, "You Light Up My Life," which topped the charts for ten weeks in 1977. She went on to record other hits, such as "God Knows" and "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight." She also appeared in several films and television movies, including Little House on the Prairie, The Waltons, and The Love Boat. Boone has been honored by several music organizations, including the Country Music Academy, the Country Music Association, and the Gospel Music Association. She was also named an Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government in 2008.
