El Cortez is a French rock band originating from Bordeaux. Composed of four musicians, Jérémie (vocals, guitar), Benjamin (guitar), Nicolas (bass) and Baptiste (drums), the band was formed in 2006. El Cortez has released three studio albums: Bordeaux Rock City (2007), Dans la peau (2009) and Rock'n'Roll Circus (2011), as well as an EP titled 5 titres pour un album (2008). Their music is inspired by 60s and 70s rock, earning them comparisons to bands such as Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and The Rolling Stones. The band has found success in France, particularly with the album Dans la peau which reached fourth place in the French charts. They have also been nominated in the categories "Rock Group of the Year" and "Rock Album of the Year" (for Dans la peau) at the Victoires de la Musique. In 2013, El Cortez announced a hiatus to allow each member to focus on other projects. They reunited in 2016 and released a new album, À la poursuite du bonheur, in 2017.
