Mat Zo is a British electronic music artist whose styles encompass trance, house, dubstep, and drum and bass. Born on April 30, 1990 in London, England, Matan Zohar, better known by his stage name Mat Zo, is the son of the renowned Israeli painter Zohar. Despite being raised in an artistic family, it was music that captivated Mat from a young age.
At the age of 8, he started playing the guitar, and at 11, he learned bass and drums. Mat Zo began producing and creating his own sounds at the age of 13. After dabbling in various electronic music genres in his early years, Zo eventually focused on trance and progressive house.
He began his music career by releasing his first compositions on Above & Beyond's Anjunabeats label in 2008. In 2011, his track "Rebound" in collaboration with Arty was played at numerous festivals and dance music events, and is considered by many as one of the best trance tracks of the year. That same year, Mat Zo was nominated for the DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs, where he ranked 5th.
In 2013, he released his debut album "Damage Control" which was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Dance/Electronic Album category. In 2016, Mat Zo released his second album "Self Assemble" which explored a new style and showcased his versatility as a producer.
Mat Zo is known for his innovative approach and high-quality productions, which have elevated him to a benchmark in the electronic music industry. His passion for experimentation allows him to stand out and create songs that are both dynamic and captivating.
