Shannon è una cantante americana nata il 2 maggio 1958 ad Houlton, nel Maine. È cresciuta in una famiglia di musicisti ed ha iniziato la sua carriera da cantante all'età di 15 anni. Dopo aver studiato musica all'università del Maine, Shannon è diventata una cantante professionista in vari club di jazz di Boston. Nel 1982, ha firmato un contratto con l'etichetta jazz Atlantic Records ed ha pubblicato il suo primo album, "A New Day". Successivamente, ha pubblicato altri due album con Atlantic, "The Best of Shannon" (1984) e "Take Another Look" (1986). Nel 1988, Shannon ha firmato con l'etichetta pop MCA Records, dove ha pubblicato due album, "Do You Wanna Get Away" (1988) e "Love Goes All the Way" (1990).
