BIOGRAPHY
The Carpenters were an American music duo formed in 1969. The group consisted of singer and pianist Karen Carpenter (1950-1983) and her older brother, guitarist and composer Richard Carpenter (born in 1946). Throughout their career, they produced 12 studio albums, two live albums, one compilation album, and two Christmas albums. They also recorded a series of singles, three of which reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100.
The duo was ranked by Billboard as the fourth most successful pop music group of all time and have sold more than 100 million records worldwide. They were inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1990 and received a star on the Hollywood Boulevard in 2004.
